What types of therapies can I expect?
Adjustments: A Chiropractic adjustment refers to the Doctor applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally. The goals are to improve range of motion, reduce nerve irritation, and improve function.
Spinal Decompression (Lumbar, Cervical): This therapy involves stretching the spine using a traction table with the goal of relieving back, neck, arm, or leg pain caused by a disc bulge or arthritis.
Traction: A technique that involves prolonged stretching of joints and ligaments to relieve neural pressure.
STIM: Used to reduce both acute and chronic pain by blocking the transmission of pain signals along nerves and release endorphins that are natural painkillers produced by the body.
Massage Therapy: The manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and improve the results of chiropractic treatment.
Rehabilitation: Various exercises designed to restore strength and mobility to improve the results of treatment.
Nutritional Support: Proper nutrition may require the use of supplements to promote healing and to maintain optimal health. Diagnostic testing is available to help identify compromised areas that are impacting the overall functioning of the body and all of its systems.
What should I expect after my first treatment?
It is not uncommon to feel slight soreness after your first treatment, especially if there is any inflammation present. This reaction is usually due to the tight muscles relaxing and the weaker muscles becoming re-engaged. Ice will generally take the soreness away within minutes. However, most patients feel much better after their first treatment because the cause of the symptoms are being addressed.
