Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciits is pain that occurs in the heel of a foot. The pain is due to the ligament connecting the toes to the heel bone becoming strained. This important ligament is responsible for supporting the arch in a foot. Ongoing ligament strain causes tiny tears which means the pain continues. These tears create inflammation, swelling, and weakness. There are several factor that contribute to this condition:

  • being overweight
  • standing for long periods of time on your feet
  • high arches or flat feet
  • ill fitting shoes
  • tight Achilles tendons or calf muscles

Plantar fasciitis is more common in middle aged individuals, athletes, and soldiers. But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen to you. If you are experiencing heel pain with the first steps of your day, or heel pain that increases throughout the day, or even pain in your heels as you walk up or down stairs, you could have this condition. A chiropractor can provide an accurate diagnosis and successful treatment.

Vanessa M. came to DCW because she was experiencing painful episodes of plantar fasciitis. She had seen other chiropractors but found no relief. A friend referred her to Damron Chiropractic & Wellness and to her this was her last stop. Read Vanessa’s story below:

“I was plagued with Plantar fasciitis that began in November 2015. It was very painful and difficult to live with as I am a very active person. I work out daily and love to run in all kinds of races and events. Plantar fasciitis stopped me in my tracks. Damron Chiropractic & Wellness (DCW) was my 4th (and final!!) doctor I visited to treat it. Before coming to DCW, I hit my lowest point when I couldn’t put weight on my feet after walking in a charity race, the pain was that bad. I was going to doctors, but not getting any results.

When I walked into DCW, I could tell it was different. The atmosphere was very open and everyone was so nice. Instead of focusing on just my feet, Dr. Washam actually focused on my hips and diagnosed an imbalance that was causing the plantar fasciitis, which had taken years to get to the point of pain. Dr. Washam went over exactly what he believed was causing the pain and put together a plan to get me pain-free.

I started 3 months of rehabilitation therapy with Jaimie – she showed me strength moves and focused stretching techniques to work into my daily routine. I also had medical massages with Andy, and weekly adjustments with Dr. Washam or Dr. Damron – all of this really helped me get to a great place with my feet. Slowly, but steadily, the pain was less and less. And today, I am thrilled to say that my plantar fasciitis is now PAIN-FREE!!

I actually ran 2 miles this weekend which felt so good because I hadn’t run in over a year due to my pain!”

6 Chiropractic Techniques

Most people would agree that a chiropractor works with the spine. They might even say that a chiropractor manipulates the spine to get it back into the correct position. If asked how this happens, that person might say through adjustments of the vertebrae in the spine. There are actually specific techniques used depending on the diagnosis of a patient.

Subluxation is a word to describe the partial dislocation of a vertebrae. Because this dislocation irritatation and cause pain or discomfort, a chiropractor will put that vertebrae back in alignment by performing adjustments. A chiropractor will use six primary techniques.

Perhaps the most common technique is the diversified. Developed by the founder of chiropractic, Dr. David Palmer, the diversified technique uses gentle force from the doctor’s hands on the patient’s back. Typically performed on a table, relief can be immediate.

Also utilizing a table is the Thompson Drop technique. Similar to the diversified, the Thompson Drop uses less force but also incorporates the “dropping” of the table.

The gonstead technique requires a patient to be sitting or standing. The chiropractor will adjust the affected area with their hands.

One of the lowest force techniques is the Instrument Assisted. Utilizing a small, hand-held device that is spring loaded, the tightness of the spring determines the force that is used. However, it is important to note that the force is minimal.

For pregnant women and infants, chiropractors use the Webster and Logan Basic techniques. The Webster technique helps to realign the spine in mother’s pelvis area in preparation for delivery. For prenatal care and pediatrics, a chiropractor will rely upon the Logan Basic technique. Delivery can be stressful to the baby’s body causing slight misalignment in the spine. The Logan Basic technique is perfect for such delicate patients.

As you can see, there is not a one size fits all approach to chiropractic care. A chiropractor will personalize each technique to fit the patient’s unique symptoms.

Moms Deserve Wellness Checks Too

Summer is a time for relaxation, no schedules, vacations, and poolside gatherings. It’s a time to catch up with family and friends, work on that tan, and catch up with your reading. It’s also a time to let things go. Mom’s especially are guilty of this, but not in the way you might think. There’s no letting go of keeping the kids occupied during the lazy days of summer, or staying on top of going to all the graduation parties, neighborhood barbecues, dinners with friends. Moms forget that summer is for them, too.

Now that school is back in session, it is time for moms to take inventory of themselves. After three months of putting everyone else’s needs first, the time has come for self. Fall is the perfect time for moms of all ages to also schedule back to school wellness checks. To uncover the causes of any pain or discomfort they might have been experiencing over the summer, yet postponed doing anything about it. Maybe it was that lumpy mattress on vacation that caused your back to start aching. Or the extra weight put on from those frozen margaritas and pizza parties. Or even all the time spent on getting your child ready for college over the summer that sidelined your exercise regiment.

No matter what the reason, there are a few simple steps a mom can take to help get herself feeling good and back on track.

  • Schedule a massage.
  • Visit your chiropractor to get yourself back in alignment and address any pain or discomfort.
  • Increase your water intake.
  • Get outside and walk.
  • Set an earlier bedtime to offset the earlier morning schedule.
  • Call another mom and schedule time during the week to workout together.

Every time you schedule a wellness check for your kids, schedule one for yourself too. Taking steps to relax and de-stress will have a tremendous impact on your energy levels, mood, and stamina. Even if it’s scheduling a massage once a month. Investing in bettering yourself is the best gift you can give your family.

Holistic Heath Care Benefits

There is a lot of averages out there:

  • body temperature
  • weight based on height
  • blood pressure
  • menstrual cycle length
  • hours of sleep
  • hours of physical activity per week

But who is really average? If we are average then does that mean we are all the same? Would that mean each disease or condition is exactly like that of another person so diagnosis and treatment should be the same? Yet, that is exactly what we are led to believe. The truth is that we are each uniquely different, with our own set of averages. Our normal may be a lower blood pressure than another. Or we may require less sleep than someone else. For a woman, her cycle could be 32 days, not 28 as modern medicine suggests.

If we prescribe to the idea of averages, then we may believe there is something wrong with us if we aren’t. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Holistic medicine, what is practiced by a chiropractor, approaches diseases and chronic conditions from a different perspective. What manifests as a symptom, is really the end result of several factors. These factors are what needs to be identified, rather than simply addressing the symptoms. For example, if a person is suffering from chronic migraines, a prescription for pain only fixes the pain – temporarily. What causes the migraine in the first place has yet to be identified.

Wellness is a state of being. One where each system of the body is working in harmony with the others, as it was intended. To a Doctor of Chiropractic, the migraine only provides a clue as to what the source is. By working with the patient to uncover their personal health history, lifestyle factors, and other unrelated symptoms, the root cause is found. There are no averages, only unique factors.

There are trends in medicine today that breakaway from the law of average such as in cancer treatment. Doctors in this field recognize that each patient has a unique diagnosis, with different treatment responses. This approach has increased the number of people and the years of survivorship tremendously, especially within certain cancer types. Wellness doesn’t need to wait for a cancer diagnosis for you to benefit from a holistic approach to your health.

Solve Your Health Clues

Did you ever play the game Clue while growing up? You know, the game that has Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, and Mrs. Peacock? The object of the game is to solve a murder mystery based on clues. Each player competes to find clues to determine first which character is guilty of the crime. What a chiropractor does is very similar to the premise for the game Clue. Our body reveals a series of clues that tell the doctor what the symptoms mean. In other words, a chiropractor does not diagnose and treat symptoms (clues). Instead, he or she evaluates all the symptoms (clues) to find the root cause of the problem.

This is not to say that medical doctors are wrong, only that their specialty is very different from that of a chiropractor. Doctors of Chiropractic rely on the symptoms and history of a patient to determine why they are experiencing a problem. Chiropractors focus on lifestyle factors, past injuries, other symptoms that may not appear related, and family history to solve the pain mystery. While a patient is seeking immediate relief from pain, they also discover that finding out the underlying reasons for the pain will help prevent it from returning. A chiropractor works to resolve the immediate problem of the pain and also providing a long-term solution as well.

The ultimate goal of chiropractic care is providing each patient with a lifetime of wellness. Most patients arrive with a problem, only to realize later the countless benefits of chiropractic. What began as a last resort for pain relief, turns into a partnership that elevates their quality of life. It also shifts them from disease care to wellness care.

Ultimately the choice in maintaining our health rests in our own hands. We can let the clues keep mounting, treat them as they arise with medications, or seek to change our lives through accountability and the desire to understand the clues and solve our health problems once and for all.

3 Examples That Help Explain Chiropractic Care

What does a teacher do when the students don’t understand a concept? A common approach is to use an analogy to help explain in a way that is familiar. Foreign concepts do not disappear in adulthood, which is why analogies are a great way to help with understanding. To a vast majority, chiropractors fall under the category of a foreign concept. The care a chiropractor provides is something they have never experienced before. Plus, chiropractic doesn’t receive the press that other medical professions do.

To help build more clarity, here are 3 great ways to explain the fundamental benefits of chiropractic care:

1. Blown Electric Fuse –

Ever blow a fuse? It seems to happen at the most inconvenient times. Our first reaction is to head to the fuse box, locate the blow fuse and flip it back on. Then what happens? It usually trips again. The problem is that the need for electricity outweighs what is available causing the fuse to turn off. Similarly, our spine is like that fuse box. Daily living, plus all the extra stuff we do, can add a level of demand on our body that it simply can’t keep up with. When this happens, we experience pain, which tells us that something isn’t right with our body. That pain is being caused by a blown fuse, or a vertebrae that is out of alignment. A chiropractor works with the body through spinal adjustments to help put the vertebrae back into place, thus eliminating the pain.

2. Pinched Water Hose – 

Setting up a sprinkler can be difficult sometimes. You think once it’s positioned properly and the hose is attached you just need to turn the faucet on and you’re good to go. What usually happens is the water is on but the sprinkler isn’t. The pinched hose represents our spine. Messages cannot travel to different parts of our body is there is interference, just like the water that can’t get to the sprinkler. Chiropractic adjustments help to remove the interference so signals can travel up and down the spine to different parts of the body.

3. Braces – 

Anyone who has ever had braces knows how long it can take to move teeth. That perfect smile doesn’t just happen. Over a period of several months, the orthodontist slowly applies pressure to move the teeth. Likewise, a chiropractor uses the same approach with correcting a misaligned spine. It takes time for a body to reach the state of pain, so it stands to reason that it will take time to retrain the body on proper posture.

Just like anything new in life, once you have tried it, the misconceptions and misunderstanding slip away. What you are left with is the clarity that truth provides.

Who’s Carrying Your ‘Journey of Life’ Baggage?

The country of Nepal, located in southern Asia, is best known for the majestic Himalayan Mountains. Mount Everest plays the starring role, as many seek to conquer its incredible height by climbing. To reach the top requires extensive training, the highest quality equipment, and an expert to guide you. Perhaps the most important of all three is the guide. In Nepal, these guides are called sherpas. These natives not only guide but carry the climber’s equipment, which is usually more than 100 pounds. In order to reach the top of Everest, a sherpa is a must.

We can compare the journey of life to that of climbing a mountain like Mount Everest. When we are young, we find ourselves at the base of the mountain. There’s really no need for specific gear, aside from proper walking shoes maybe. The journey is easy. As a child, we recover quickly from injury, get plenty of sleep, don’t worry much, and eat what we want.

As we begin our ascent, we may not even realize it because the incline is so slight. Yet, we are still moving forward in our journey of life, into our teen years and early adulthood. Many of us play sports, enjoying the intensity of it. But that also comes with more intense injuries from fractures, concussions, and even surgery to repair things. Again, we recover quickly. We are young. Eating what we want, when we want – like those midnight fast-food runs!

Climbing still further up that mountain, we begin to feel the incline. We need more gear to keep us moving forward. The sherpa is ready for this. In our life, our 20s and 30s mean career and kids. This also means lack of sleep, a more sedentary lifestyle, and a body that takes on a bit more weight than it should. But, it seems to be the norm for people your age so you just accept it.

As the climb continues, the oxygen levels get thinner, the temperature decreases, and the journey much more difficult. Thank goodness for the sherpa and all that extra gear. If only we had a sherpa in real life! Unfortunately, we are our own sherpa, carrying all the baggage we accumulate over the years. From extra weight from lack of exercise; fatigue from lack of sleep due to career, kids, hot flashes, pregnancy, and worry; to injuries we might have sustained from accidents or falls. In other words, life happens.

The good news is that we can choose to offload some of the “gear” we are carrying as our own sherpa through self-care. In other words, we can choose to lose that extra weight, we can choose to help ourselves handle stress through massage or working out, we can choose to resolve that pain we have been dealing with for years. A solution like this does not just happen. It requires a commitment to oneself and the desire for change.

Reversing Sedentary Lifestyle Health Risks

Physical inactivity is on the rise, both at home and work. If we compare ourselves to older generations, access to technology and convenience has encouraged this lack of movement. Not to mention commuting to work and school in increasingly congested areas. Then sitting for hours at a desk each day only to head back home to sit for dinner and finally go to bed. Modern society almost requires a sedentary lifestyle. And we have accepted this wholeheartedly. However, research is revealing a direct correlation between this inactive lifestyle with certain health risks.

It requires effort to exercise regularly. We also need to dedicate time to do it. And while it does not provide immediate results, like what we are conditioned to expect with our digital world, we need patience, too. All things our modern day society does not promote. Yet, this same research is also looking at what it will take to change this unhealthy trend. For example, to reverse the health risks of sitting for eight hours a day, 60 minutes of exercise may be required. Think about that for a moment.

Perhaps you are wondering what could be so bad about sitting for extended periods of time. Well, let’s take a look:

  • Heart Disease
  • Muscle Degeneration
  • Leg Disorders
  • Back Pain
  • Foggy Brain
  • Neck and Shoulder Strain

So, now you are probably thinking to yourself, “This can’t be true, I’m just sitting.” Truth is that our bodies are designed for movement. And extended periods of inactivity don’t allow it to function as it should. When muscles are slow to burn fat and blood flow decreases, fatty acids have more opportunity to clog arteries. Extended periods of sitting have been linked to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease.

Muscles that have been restricted in use begin to degenerate. Also, slumping while sitting puts strain on muscles to compensate where they shouldn’t. Leaving a person with a poor posture and pain, not to mention poor circulation especially in the legs. In terms of brain function, decreased blood flow also affects the oxygen getting to the brain, hence we experience brain fog. It is more difficult to concentrate on the task at hand, plus we feel sluggish.

We do not need to let this be our outcome if we take steps today to change our sedentary lifestyle. To counter the affects of a sedentary lifestyle requires awareness of our daily schedule. In other words, how much time we are spending sitting each day. Choosing to break the monotony with walks, exercise, taking the stairs, stretching, and seeing a chiropractor for periodic adjustments all help.

While we may not be able to change our commute, our job, or even the conveniences of modern society, we can change what we do in our free time.

Make Your Training Personal

Walk into any local gym or fitness center and chances are you will soon encounter a personal trainer. Couple that with all the equipment, free weights, and class offerings and it’s no wonder that some people steer clear of these places. It can be a bit overwhelming and confusing, plus uncomfortable if your goal is to lose weight. Not because you want to lose weight, but because you might see people there who don’t need to lose weight. There’s nothing worse than comparing ourselves to others, especially in a public setting.

People may mistake personal trainers as those who just help us use the exercise equipment. And while that may be a part of what they do, it certainly is not all. Training, whether it’s to lose weight, build strength, or trim inches, requires specific strategies to make it personal to you. Adding to that any physical limitations a person might have due to a past injury or surgery, plus their current physical condition makes working out even more personal. The good news is that the ideal personal trainer will develop a program that is unique to the person. Utilizing benchmarks to note progress. A personal trainer will always be ready to make changes, too, always keeping in mind the individual’s goals.

If the idea of joining a gym intimidates you, that’s okay. It’s also normal. But, that should not be a reason to stop you from getting healthy again. Perhaps you don’t know where to start. Maybe you have concerns, questions, or fears. That’s okay, there is a place you can go to get you on the right path, in a setting that is more private. Ever Suffer From Leg Cramps?

If you have ever suffered from a muscle cramp you know how painful they are. Cramps can happen at any time and at any age. Plus, they can occur in any part of the body, too. The most common type of cramp is what many call a “charlie horse”, that is one that happens in the calf muscle. It’s important to understand why they happen and how to relieve the pain because as we age, the likelihood of experiencing cramps increases to 70% over the age of 50.

Being active does not reduce the chances a person will have a cramp. In fact, being active can actually cause one. The key is understanding what triggers a cramp to occur in the first place, so you can do your best to avoid one.

  • Lactic acid buildup in the muscles caused by overexertion.
  • Causing muscles to overstretch whether from exercise, chores, or horseplay.
  • An imbalance of the minerals that are responsible for muscle contraction and relaxation.
  • Dehydration whether from sweating or medications.
  • Long-term inactivity such as from sitting on an airplane.
  • A symptom of an underlying illness.
  • Simply getting older.

Cramp triggers can happen individually or together. For example, someone may have an overseas flight and also be taking a statin drug for high cholesterol. The point is, be aware of your potential triggers based on your age, health, and physical activity. If you do experience a leg cramp, there are several steps you can take to help relieve the pain. At the first sign of a cramp, rub the muscle affected. You can also, stretch your calf muscle by flexing your foot up and down. If you can walk, try that, or even on your tiptoes. Relax the muscle with heat. If there is a nerve involved, chiropractic care can help, too.

Staying properly hydrated is important in preventing dehydration which can lead to cramps. You can also ensure your mineral intake is sufficient by eating potassium and magnesium rich foods, like bananas and cantaloupe, or use supplements. Also, always begin any exercise regiment with stretching. Plus, as you sleep, use a pillow under your calves to elevate your feet or lay on your side with loose blankets. Ultimately, cramps can be prevented through proper hydration, a well balanced diet, and regular exercise. Complementing that with the care a chiropractor provides will help eliminate nerve irritation, as well.

Don’t let cramps of any kind hinder your quality of life, no matter what your age.

Dr. Damron established DCW because he was fed up with the current health model. Statistics continue to show an increase in pharmaceutical prescriptions to patients every day. Although he does believe some medications are necessary, he believes the majority of what is prescribed is actually harmful to the patient’s long-term health, creating another set of healthcare issues as a result. Dr. Damron believes DCW’s unique approach to achieving overall wellness will revolutionize the healthcare industry through collaborative care utilizing chiropractic, massage therapy, rehabilitation, and nutrition. The DCW focus addresses the whole person versus a only symptom and uncovers the root cause. He also believes that education is vital to sustaining a healthier more vibrant lifestyle as well. His goal is to create a healthier society and a better place for our children to live.
Dr. Damron began his medical career with a Biology Degree from Wright State University in 2002. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida in 2007. While attending Palmer, he had the opportunity to travel abroad to Madagascar and provide chiropractic care to the native Malagasy people. Dr. Damron has continued his post-graduate studies with a focus on nutrition, rehabilitation, and functional medicine.
Dr. Damron and his wife, Kristy, reside in West Chester with their two young children, Graden and Isabelle. An avid Buckeye fan, Dr. Damron enjoys playing the guitar in a band with his college friends, watching/playing any sport, cooking, reading, and attending concerts, especially the Dave Matthews Band and Foo Fighters.

Dr. Washam was introduced to Chiropractic by his mother at the age of 16. She was working for a Chiropractor at the time, experiencing all the benefits that Chiropractic care had to offer, and thus began taking Dr. Washam and his siblings in for regular adjustments. Dr. Washam had been experiencing painful bouts of Strep Throat from the age of 8, which always included a 10 day course of antibiotics. While under Chiropractic care his doctor convinced him to avoid the antibiotics and receive Chiropractic adjustments instead. To his amazement, Dr. Washam’s strep throat symptoms had vanished within three days and he never had an issue from that point forward. He was so astounded by his experience that he fell in love with Chiropractic and decided that was the path for him. He wanted to commit his life to helping people through the power of Chiropractic, just as it had helped him.
Dr. Greg Washam began his college education at the University of Cincinnati, studying biology. After he made the decision to become a Chiropractor, he attended Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. While at Logan, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Life Sciences in 2009. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2011. Dr. Washam was presented with various awards upon graduation. These included Dean’s List honors, the Senior Intern Assistant Award, and the Award of Excellence from the Division of Research. He has completed many hours of post graduate education focusing on nutrition, supplementation and injury recovery.
Dr. Washam and his wife Kassie reside in Mason, Oh with their two daughters, Lillian and Wren. In his free time, Dr. Washam enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, touring local craft breweries and reading. He also spends a great deal of time outdoors with his family and his Beagle, Willow. Dr. Washam is a music enthusiast and listens to all genres of music. He especially loves classic rock from the 60’s and 70’s. His favorite band of all time is Led Zeppelin.

Brooke had never been to a medical office where she really felt like they cared more about her than her money until she came to DCW as a patient. DCW made it so easy to arrange financial payment with, they were compassionate, dedicated and most importantly 100% honest. The team addressed all aspects of her health and well-being, above and beyond chiropractic care. Her initial impression of chiropractic offices were that they would only adjust then send her on her way. She realized that she was wrong. Because of her experience as a patient at DCW she realized she wanted to pursue a career within it. She saw everything she wanted in healthcare at DCW. Finally, a place where patient care really comes first! She comes to DCW with a degree in Nursing and a background in finance. When someone asks her “Why DCW?” she cannot think of one reason why not.
Brooke has a background in business finance and computer technology prior to the start of her medical career. She attended Southern State and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Science, R.N. Sh began working from DCW in December of 2014.
Brooke has five beautiful girls from 15 to 6 years old. She is married to Jamey Snyder who has two boys of his own. She lives on a two acre farm in the country with horses, dogs, cats, and a pot belly pig. Brooke enjoys spending time with her very active family and watching their kids play sports.

Nicole always wanted a career that was focused on helping people. It wasn’t until she drove past the Dayton School of Medical Massage on a daily basis that it became clear what she was meant to do. She enrolled as soon as she could and it has been the best decision she has ever made. She loves the feeling of knowing she has alleviated someone’s pain and possibly made their day better in some way. She had been working alongside chiropractors for over 7 years before joining the DCW team. Before DCW she never really felt her opinions and insights were valued or even asked for, which she felt hindered patient care and the effectiveness of each treatment. At DCW she feels valued and part of a practice that is focused on changing the approach of wellness with cohesive and effective patient care.
Nicole is a graduate of the Dayton School of Medical Massage and obtained her license in 2008. She utilizes Deep Tissue, Swedish and Thai massage techniques to relieve pain, tension, and stress while increasing range of motion and flexibility.
Nicole is married to her husband of 5 years and they one daughter, Rylee, and one child on the way due in September 2016. As a family they enjoy camping, hiking and spending time at the lake during the summer.

Erika started coming to DCW in 2010 after spending two years in substantial pain after an injury. She had spent those two years at various specialists and taking medications to simply get up in the morning due to the pain. She was 18 when she found herself facing a major, life altering surgery (SI Fusion) and realized there must be another way. When she began her treatment plan at DCW she started to have days with little or no pain. She stopped taking her medications and realized they had been affecting her overall mood. In 2015 Erika joined the DCW team because they allowed her to live her life once again. She wants to prevent others from living in pain like she did unnecessarily, and to receive the benefits of chiropractic care.
Erika is well versed in the insurance industry with her previous employment at Express Scripts and Anthem.
Erika has two siblings and resides in Liberty Township. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and hiking with her family.

After moving to Ohio in 2010, I was in need of some relief from minor pain associated with working in customer service fields for 15 years. I was interested in seeking alternative forms of therapy and found a chiropractor in our small town. After going for a few visits, the therapy seemed somewhat outdated compared to what I had researched. In talking with my husband, he remembered that he knew someone who was a chiropractor. After just a few visits with Dr. Damron, I definitely noticed a difference in his techniques and style. It was nice to see results and feel like I was being listened to as a patient, not just heard…something you don’t always feel with doctors. After being a patient for several years, the opportunity came about to join the DCW team. It would be something different from what I had done in my past, however I knew my passion for working with people would translate well into helping patients receive the best care possible. I believed in the mission of DCW as a patient, and I am excited to be part of living that mission every day. 
 I am originally from St. Louis, MO. I graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a degree in Secondary Education – Language Arts. I worked in restaurant/catering management for several years before starting a career in retail management and training.
In that position, I met my husband, Matt, who is from Wilmington, OH. After we got married in 2010, I moved to Wilmington. Realizing retail wasn’t where my heart was any longer, I began working as a substitute teacher in the Clinton County area. Matt and I live in Wilmington with our 6 year old German Shepard, Dale. I enjoy camping, boating, riding 4-wheelers, and spending time with family and friends. I love St. Louis Cardinals baseball and am a recently converted Cincinnati Bengals fan.
